The First Breakfast is een absurdistisch en speels kunstwerk dat tegelijkertijd verwijst naar klassieke thema’s en moderne beeldtaal. De compositie bestaat uit meerdere personages die afzonderlijk zijn gefotografeerd en vervolgens samengebracht tot een surrealistische scè€ne. Deze figuren zijn geplaatst tegen een collage van historische architectuurfragmenten, waaronder het Forum Romanum en het iconische Mies van der Rohe-paviljoen in Barcelona.
The First Breakfast is an absurdist and playful artwork that simultaneously references classical themes and modern visual language. The composition consists of multiple characters photographed individually and subsequently brought together into a surreal scene. These figures are placed against a collage of historical architectural fragments, including the Roman Forum and the iconic Mies van der Rohe Pavilion in Barcelona.

De architectuur collage van IJsland is sterk beïnvloed door het ruwe landschap, het klimaat en de relatief jonge geschiedenis van het land. Omdat hout schaars was en het weer extreem kan zijn, hebben IJslandse gebouwen vaak eenvoudige vormen, stevige materialen en praktische ontwerpen. Tegelijk zie je in moderne steden verrassend gedurfde en creatieve architectuur
Iceland's architectural collage is strongly influenced by the rugged landscape, the climate, and the country's relatively young history. Because wood was scarce and the weather can be extreme, Icelandic buildings often feature simple forms, sturdy materials, and practical designs. At the same time, you see surprisingly bold and creative architecture in modern cities.

De werken laten ze zich inspireren door een mysterieuze geoglief: De Lange Man van Wilmington. Deze 72 meter hoge figuur, uitgehouwen in de kalkstenen helling van Windover Hill (East Sussex, VK), is Europa's grootste menselijke geoglief en een krachtig symbool van het onbekende. Zijn herkomst is onzeker, wat hem tot een canvas maakt voor interpretatie, mythe en herbetekenis. ParaKwadraat speelt met deze ambiguïteit en plaatst archetypische figuren in een hedendaags narratief, waarin technologie, macht en arbeid elkaar kruisen.
For their works, they draw inspiration from a mysterious geoglyph: The Tall Man of Wilmington. This 72-meter-high figure, carved into the limestone slope of Windover Hill (East Sussex, UK), is Europe's largest human geoglyph and a powerful symbol of the unknown. His origin is uncertain, making him a canvas for interpretation, myth, and re-meaning. ParaKwadraat plays with this ambiguity and places archetypal figures within a contemporary narrative where technology, power, and labor intersect.

Schutkleuren zijn geen toeval. Ze zijn een overlevingsstrategie. Een fluistering van de natuur die zegt: “Zie mij niet.” Veren nemen de kleur aan van boomschors.
Vlekken weerspiegelen bladeren. Patronen breken contouren. De achtergrond en het dier vloeien samen tot één beeld.
En toch — wanneer wij de vogel uit zijn achtergrond halen, gebeurt er iets bijzonders. Plots wordt zichtbaar wat eerst verborgen was.
Wat eerst camouflage was, wordt identiteit. Wat eerst stilte was, wordt aanwezigheid.
Camouflage is no accident. It is a survival strategy. A whisper from nature saying: “Do not see me.” Feathers take on the color of tree bark.
Spots mirror leaves. Patterns break contours. The background and the animal merge into a single image.
And yet—when we remove the bird from its background, something special happens. Suddenly, what was once hidden becomes visible.
What was once camouflage becomes identity. What was once silence becomes presence.
